about

FOR THE BEST EXPERIENCE, SPEAKERS WITH GOOD BASS RESPONSE OR HI-QUALITY HEADPHONES ARE NECESSARY!!!

An 11-track celebration of 11 years with the Healer custom-made by Trevor Healy / Healy Guitars in Easthampton, MA, featuring its on-board / built-in Ring Modulator!
The 'normal' side of this guitar has vintage-style tones that range from clean, crisp, and bright to dark, subdued and mellow.
Flip the switch, and the ring-mod side emerges, enabling avant-garde tones reminiscent of robot-style chatter that can also be fine-tuned for a dynamic and powerful fuzz sludge. Furthermore, judicious use of the 'freq' knob further transforms this guitar into a monophonic synth!
With this album I wish to showcase what this singular yet dual-natured instrument can do, to demonstrate a fraction of the myriad possibilities.
Thus, all the sounds on this album come from only the ring-mod guitar.

No amps or microphones have been used, only direct-ins. While you think this would result in a dry and unconnected tone, you'll hear substantial evidence to the contrary. Only one pedal has been used, and that is for echo/delay on tracks 1, 4, and 8. The only post-processing that has been done is for edits of timing, volume and layering.

The 'tunes' on this album are patterned ABCDBEBDCBA

Enjoy!

N.B. This album is not intended to show any particular personal prowess or virtuosity as a 'guitarist', but rather to have fun showcasing timbral and design possibilities of this particular instrument, and perhaps, in turn, to provide a bit of wonder and amusement.
